Browser extension

GreenGuard

An adblocker that plants trees.

GreenGuard blocks intrusive ads, tracking and malvertising, and plants trees through partner shops at no cost to the user. The site explains the extension and sends people straight to install it.

01

What it is

GreenGuard is a free adblocker for the browser with a second purpose. It blocks ads, trackers and malicious advertising, and it is tied to tree planting.

02

Who it is for

It is for people who already want an adblocker — because ads are intrusive, slow pages down and can carry malware — and would rather their choice did some good as well.

03

How it works

The user installs the extension from the site in a couple of clicks, and it starts blocking. The trees come from shopping, not from the blocking itself: GreenGuard partners with online stores, and when a user buys from one, the store makes a small donation toward planting at no extra cost to the user.

The website is the product's front door. It explains the idea, compares GreenGuard with other blockers, shows a count of trees planted and sends visitors to the download for their browser.
